Design

From concept to manufacturing, we are driven by the desires of our watch community. We meticulously select high quality materials to ensure not only longevity, but a memorable experience with your treasured timepiece to last for generations.

The Vigeo is the first publicly released design by Calces. Each design element from the watch case, to the individual hands and hour markers, (excluding the movement) has been exclusively designed by Mark Martino – Founder of Calces.

The intention of the Vigeo design was to create a watch that would stand out from the crowd, whilst maintaining it’s subtlety. The design is simple and elegant, combining the classic feel with contemporary features such as the triangular crown.

Sunburst Dial

Carefully crafted by our team in Switzerland, the sunburst dial adds an element of dynamic reflection to your time piece.

Actions speak louder than words. With a choice of three colours (Blue, Emerald, and Red) along with the vibrant Super-LumiNova for dark environments, this signature dial speaks for itself through its minimalism and represents the epitome of establishment and class.

Hands

Designed exclusively by Calces for simplicity, the Vigeo’s speedometer style hands are made from polished stainless steel.

The rounded contours of the overall time-piece was considered when designing the curvy shaped hands together with the pointy tip. The seconds hand also features a triangular marker which compliments the triangle Vigeo crown.

With non-radioactive chemicals and charged with natural or artificial lighting, each set of hands luminate either blue, green or red depending on your choice of dial.

Polished Stainless Steel Case

Cast out of 316L stainless steel, the Vigeo case is built to withstand extreme temperatures and corrosive environments.

This impressive alloy not only embodies the characteristics of high durability and functionality, the polished finish provides a smooth and solid feel on the wrist.

Crown

Traditionally, a triangle shape would be used on a watch dial to mark the 12 o’clock. This was particularly useful in areas of low visibility or disorientation such as when flying or diving. Many other classic watches also included the triangle on the watches seconds or hour hands to be used as a pointer.

However, as the years ticked away, the shape became less about practicality and increasingly about aesthetics. Thus, becoming a quintessential shape for many watches.

This exclusive crown by Calces, pays homage to the many vintage watches to have graced our lives for more than a century, whilst progressing with modern-day design.

Vulcanised Rubber Wrist Band

Rubber has been a common material used in civilisation for centuries. It’s application has varied from ancient sports, to vehicle tyres and high pressure gasket seals. As it’s use case continued to expand through the 19th century industrial revolution, it was critical that the material would evolve to be more resilient to high stress environments.

The solution was vulcanised rubber. Unlike typical rubber, vulcanised rubber involves combining sulphur with natural or synthetic rubber in order to strengthen the molecular bond between each particle and become more thermally stable.

Fast forward to the modern-day, vulcanised rubber now plays a pivotal role in luxury watchmaking. With high resilience to oxidisation and heat, extreme flexibility and elasticity, low water absorption that feels smooth textured and sturdy on your wrist, as well as it’s stylish look in robust settings, you can now enjoy the many benefits that this material has to offer.

Sapphire Crystal

An essential piece to complete the final finish of the Vigeo, this dome shaped sapphire crystal enables remarkable pellucidity, and unparalleled scratch resistance.

Many watches circulating the market today tend to use glass or acrylic for their front and rear displays. These have a tendency to obtain large amount of scratches over time. The material properties of the sapphire crystal allow for significantly increased durability resulting in fewer chips and scratches over time, whilst maintaining the highest possible clarity.
